lowdown:
Teen girl friend fest from a young adult novel.

low expectation:

I may sometimes act like a teenage girl, but just because I'm anorexic, have the occasional crush on male actors and can be fussy about my hair products does not make me one (it doesn't make me gay, either).  One way to tell that I'm not a teen girl is that I have no desire to read empowering teen girl literature like the "Sisterhood" series.  Hollywood isn't totally stupid, though.  They know that pre-teens do read such unintelligent fluff and will spend their allowances at theatres showing simply produced, straightforward adaptations of them.  Typically, I'd say that people should just read the book and ignore the movie, but from a quick glance on Amazon, I can tell that Brasheres' writing isn't even worth that advisement.

I'm sure few teen girls saw Sin City and so few of them are truly aware of how bad an actress Alexis Bledel is.  Hopefully they'll find out here and we can move past her career quickly.

synopsis/press release:

Based on Ann Brashares' best-selling novel, The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants tells the story of four teenage friends facing a summer in which they will all be separated for the first time. On a shopping trip, the girls find a pair of thrift-shop jeans that fits each of them perfectly and they decide to use these "magic" pants as a way of keeping in touch over the months ahead, each girl wearing the jeans for a week to see what luck they bring her before sending them on to the next. Though miles apart, the four friends still experience life, love and loss together in a summer they'll never forget. -- © Warner Bros.
